Arturo Nicolas "Papang" Pedro

Camarillo, CA

On March 29, 2018 our Lord called our father and grandfather to heaven.

Arturo Nicolas Pedro, "Papang", was born on February 20, 1932 to Paz Nicolas and Isaias Pedro in Laoag, Ilocos Norte Philippines. He was the eldest child and brother to the late Cristina Cadores, Jovencia Pedro and Fidencio Pedro. He married Chaly Calumpit in 1953. From 1955-1981, he taught science, math, music and art at Vintar Central School. He taught fifth and six graders including his own children alongside Chaly who was also a schoolteacher. He was especially loved by his students and remembered for his caring, jolly nature and for riding his motorcycle. Starting in 1982, Arturo and Chaly immigrated with their children from the Philippines to the United States, settling in Camarillo. Before retiring, he worked at a medical product company and completed business classes at Waterson College. He enjoyed many years of spending quality time with his grandchildren. His favorite pastime was playing the violin. He truly touched the lives of all those he knew.

Papang is survived by his wife Chaly and children, Lily (Vic), Sony (Evelyn), and Arlee (Olive). He has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son, Edgar. We miss you dearly and take comfort knowing you are in heaven with our Lord.
