Claire Josephine "Jody" Marie

Camarillo, CA

Claire Josephine Marie, known as Jody to all, began her life as she always said, “the day she met Jerry”. That meeting took place while both of them were employed in the San Fernando Valley at General Motors. Their life together spanned 40 plus years.

During Jerry’s employment with Janss Corporation, they moved to Camarillo where they built their home on a golf course, becoming founding members at Las Posas Country Club. While at the club, they enjoyed golfing and socializing together plus Jody enjoyed playing bridge. Jody became President of the ladies golf association at LPCC in the '80s, and was President several times of the duplicate bridge association at LPCC.

Jody nurtured her friendships with people, providing numerous weekend retreats at their home in the desert where 8 bridge friends would enjoy marathon bridge. She also enjoyed giving dinner parties for all of their friends.

Her religious life at St. Mary Magdalen was one of joy. She participated in several ministries and enjoyed her Small Church Community. One special calling within the church was her work as a Eucharistic Minister. She not only provided comfort to those in need at home and at the local care centers; she coordinated and trained all Eucharistic Ministers at St. Mary Magdalen.

She leaves behind her niece and nephew, Robin Lee and Harold Carl Jabs, Jerry’s surviving relatives and many dear friends. Her husband, Jerome L. Marie; her sister, Bobbie Jean Davia; her brother in law, Thomas Leo Davia; and her nephew, David Thomas Davia all preceded her in death.

The family would like to thank her dear caregiver for over 2 years, Marny, Home Helpers Care Organization, and Livingston Hospice that took care of her in her home until her death on August 5, 2017.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26 at St. Mary Magdalen Church (at the corner of Las Posas and Crestview in Camarillo) with a reception following at Las Posas Country Club, 955 Fairway Drive, Camarillo.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Mary Magdalen SCHOOL, 2534 Ventura Blvd., Camarillo, CA. 93010.
