Dr. Paul Gabriel, 71, passed away July 27, 2017 due to complications after emergency heart bypass surgery on July 15th.

He was born January 23, 1946 in Chicago and raised from childhood in West Los Angeles. He graduated from University High and from U.C.L.A., and then from Loyola Dental School in Chicago in 1973. He practiced dentistry in Culver City for 14 years and in Camarillo for 28 years. On June 30, 2016, just over one year ago, Dr. Gabriel retired after 42 years in the profession.

Paul had a great love for the ocean and military ships. For 7 years, he volunteered on the WWII Merchant Marine ship SS Lane Victory in San Pedro where he was part of the deck crew, a tour guide, and was elected to the Board of Directors.
He joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 9 years ago. Paul served as boat crew, in radio communications, in food service, and as IS (Information Services) officer. He was the current Flotilla Commander of District 11 Southern Region Division 7 - Flotilla 7 (Channel Islands Radio).

He leaves his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Donna, and many, many friends and shipmates. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Griffin Family Chapels, 1075 E. Daily Dr., Camarillo. Paul’s ashes will be scattered at sea per his wishes.
