Sister Mary LaReina Kelly, SND (Colette Marie Kelly), 73, of Thousand Oaks died Thursday, June 8, 2017 in Woodland Hills after a lengthy illness. She was born July 30, 1943 in Los Angeles and was a 12-year Ventura County resident.

Sister Mary LaReina was a loved Sister of Notre Dame for over 50 years. She was a gifted teacher and administrator throughout her entire life, serving in Catholic schools in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties including: president of Notre Dame Academy, La Reina High and Middle Schools, as well as carrying out the duties of Elementary Supervisor and Religion Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She enjoyed people very much and made every effort to be present to them in times of joy and need. Some of Sister’s greatest gifts were her faith, courage and perseverance. She even took up shadow boxing in recent years to improve her balance, which was compromised by the onset of Parkinson’s. Sister’s honest humor was always a breath of fresh air in the very complicated world of today. By far, Sister Mary LaReina was a loving sister and aunt as well as a loyal friend and mentor to many.
