Faith Viola Smyth

Thousand Oaks, CA

Faith Smyth passed Monday, May 29, 2017 at Los Robles Hospital after battling several staph infections from back surgery.

Faith was born in Michigan on October 9, 1937. At 5 years old she moved to Burbank California where she lived with her family and went to Burbank High School. While in high school she won multiple awards for painting and was an exceptional softball player.

Her first job out of college was for Universal Studios. In 1966 she moved to Thousand Oaks to fulfill her dream of owning horses, which she did. Once immersed in the Thousand Oaks community she became extremely active in youth sports and supporting the local schools her entire life in one way or another. Two of her proudest accomplishments were coaching and starting school fundraisers. Faith was one of the first women to manage/coach in Thousand Oaks Little League. She started and designed the first media program for the Thousand Oaks High School football team as a groundbreaking fundraiser for the sport. In return, sports and her involvement in schools have given her lifelong friendships.

Faith’s love for all arts were a lifelong passion she enjoyed until her passing. Most recently she has been a member of the Conejo Valley Garden Club, entering and winning several competitions for design. Faith enjoyed the art aspect of it and the many relationships she built with its members in the past few years.

Her greatest love was her love for her family and friends. Her family gave her the greatest amount of joy in her life.

She is survived by her brother Ross; husband Gerry; children Tim, Tom, Shani and Kip; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and two on the way.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 2 at Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 101 E. Wilbur Rd., Thousand Oaks.
