William F. Sluiter, 64, passed away suddenly in the early morning of Friday, April 28, 2017 due to a torn aorta.

Born in New Lenox, IL, Bill graduated from Northern Illinois University as an electronics engineer. He worked at Ideal Industries in Illinois, Rockwell in Iowa, and for the majority of his working life at the Guidance & Controls Systems Department of Litton Industries in California before becoming a consultant at GetDining.com in CA. He moved to the Thousand Oaks area with his bride in 1980.

Bill was a great friend & lent a helping hand to a lot of people, always ready with a joke. He cheered for the White Sox, liked to read history, especially the space race, took flying lessons & loved a good air show. Bill appreciated science & engineering, liked to go to auto races and was a former president of the Porsche Club, Santa Barbara Region.

He was a caring son to Clarence and Rosella Sluiter; kid brother to Lois (Tom) Ryan; doting husband to Barbara Ballenger; best friend and father to son Maximilian; brother-in-law to Louis (Marsha), Ken (Lynn), Ray and John Ballenger and Jean Kocielko; and dear uncle to Tim Ryan and Linda (Blaine) Boyles, Donnie Kocielko & Makenzie Ballenger.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 5 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 5801 Kanan Rd, Westlake Village.
